Known as the Doctor Wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus is a very useful reef species, recognized for its behavior of cleaning parasites off other fish. Its slender body and blue-black striped appearance make it stand out in marine aquariums.

In its natural habitat, it forms "cleaning stations" where it feeds on dead skin and parasites from other fish. It is an active swimmer, constantly on the move, and adds a variety of natural behaviors to reef aquariums.
