The Maroon Clownfish is one of the largest and most dominant species among clownfish. The "Nugget" form refers to decorative variants with golden-yellow tones obtained through genetic selection. It is a very hardy fish and adapts easily to aquariums. It usually forms a symbiotic relationship with an anemone, but this is not mandatory.

Things to Consider

  • It is one of the most aggressive clownfish species; it fiercely defends its territory.
  • It can establish dominance, especially when kept with smaller and calmer fish.
  • When paired, the female becomes very dominant and controls the male.
  • If kept with an anemone, suitable species should be chosen (e.g., Entacmaea quadricolor).
  • In small aquariums, the risk of incompatibility with other fish is high.
