The Ornate Leopard Wrasse is one of the most eye-catching wrasse species in reef aquariums, thanks to its striking spotted patterns and graceful swimming style. It is known for its behavior of sleeping and hiding in the sand and constantly hunts in sandy and reef areas in its natural habitat.
As it is quite a delicate species, its adaptation to the aquarium is sensitive. Initially, it may bury itself in the sand bed for extended periods, observing its surroundings to adapt.
Points to Consider
- Fine and soft sand bed is essential
- Difficult to keep in newly established tanks
- May be dependent on live foods (copepods, etc.)
- Sensitive to sudden water changes
- Adapts better in mature and stable reef systems.
