The Tassle Filefish is an excellent camouflage expert with its tassel-like projections and rough-textured appearance. It lives almost blended into its surroundings among corals and rocks, and is a slow-moving, very cautious species.

In its natural habitat, it is found in reefs, lagoons, and areas rich in sponges. It tends to feed on small invertebrates and especially sponges.

Points to Note:

  • May eat some soft corals and polyps
  • Stress easily due to its slow and shy nature
  • Requires a natural reef setup with plenty of hiding spaces
  • Food acceptance can be difficult; it should be fed carefully at first
  • Not recommended to be kept with aggressive species
